“For me, garments tell stories — and through them I want to express…”
(Claudia Mileji)
Fashion / Design Language
Claudia Mileji is a Hungarian fashion and textile designer, specialized in product design, based in Budapest. She founded her eponymous brand in 2012, defined by the spirit of Avant-Garde Elegance.
Her creations are designed for distinctly feminine women: strong yet sensitive, refined yet bold — women who radiate freedom and confidence and consciously embrace every moment of their femininity. Her design language is characterized by the frequent use of black, often contrasted with another tone. Strict tailoring, geometric structures and an avant-garde aesthetic are harmonized with classical elegance and sophistication, making her work instantly recognizable.
Claudia’s collections are built around a personal imaginative universe: each one tells a story, and the collections are closely connected, allowing for versatile styling and modular wardrobe building. At the same time, her work goes beyond aesthetics: each collection reflects a contemporary social situation or lived reality, functioning as a creative imprint of its time — translated into the language of fashion. Every piece is created with artistic precision and a strong commitment to high-quality materials and refined craftsmanship.
Education / Professional Background
Claudia received an arts education from childhood onward. However, in 2009—in accordance with her family’s expectations—she earned her first degree in economics, which later proved to be extremely useful in running her fashion company and through her experiences in the fashion industry. Claudia began her career as a self-taught fashion designer; she debuted with her first collection at a fashion show (2012, Boscolo Hotel, Budapest), which was a major success, even before she had formally studied the craft. That same year, her collections were already featured in a leading showroom’s lineup.
To further her professional development, she continued her studies at one of the country’s leading design institutions, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME). As part of a one-year Erasmus scholarship, she studied in Milan at the prestigious Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, where she pursued a degree in fashion design from 2016 to 2017. She subsequently earned a degree in fashion and textile design from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 2018.
In her master’s thesis, she explored the topic of algorithmic design, with a particular focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and fashion design. Her innovative approach has earned her numerous professional awards and accolades. In 2018, she won a scholarship in New York associated with the Tommy Hilfiger fashion house, where she continued the research for her thesis.
In 2022, she created her bridal collection ELUSIVE, reflecting on the social and emotional experience of the COVID-19 pandemic through transformable, modular couture pieces. The collection received multiple awards and was presented during Budapest Design Week.
In 2023, she earned a degree in design and visual arts education from MOME; her thesis focused on constructivist pedagogy. That same year, she began her doctoral studies in the MOME PhD in Practice (DLA – Doctor of Liberal Arts) program, majoring in applied arts as part of a multidisciplinary curriculum.
Her research topic is:
Fashion and the Catholic Imagination – Catholic liturgical vestments using innovative fashion-industry technologies.
For Claudia, Roman Catholic faith is a lived reality and a profound source of inspiration. In her artistic practice and doctoral research, she integrates contemporary fashion technologies with the tradition-inspired rule system of liturgical vestments.
Claudia completed her professional internship as a doctoral researcher at LAVS, one of the world’s most renowned liturgical vestment workshops, in the studio of designer and tailor Filippo Sorcinelli. Sorcinelli designs liturgical vestments for the Vatican and is known in international professional circles as “the Pope’s tailor.”
„Számomra a ruhák mesélnek, melyekkel kifejezni szeretnék…”

2018-ban New York-i ösztöndíjat nyert, amely a Tommy Hilfiger divatházhoz kapcsolódott, ahol diplomamunkájának kutatását folytatta.
2022-ben létrehozta ELUSIVE című menyasszonyi kollekcióját, amely a COVID–19 pandémia társadalmi tapasztalatára reflektált: variálható, moduláris darabokból épült fel. A kollekció több elismerést is kapott, és bemutatásra került a Budapest Design Week keretében.
2023-ban a MOME-n design- és vizuális művészet tanár diplomát szerzett; diplomamunkájában a konstruktivista pedagógia témájával foglalkozott. Ugyanebben az évben kezdte meg doktori tanulmányait a MOME PhD in Practice (DLA – Doctor of Liberal Arts) programjában, iparművészet szakon, multidiszciplináris képzés keretében.
Kutatási témája:
Divat és a katolikus képzelet – katolikus liturgikus öltözékek innovatív divatipari technológiákkal.
A római katolikus hit Claudia számára megélt valóság és meghatározó inspiráció: alkotói munkájában a kortárs divatipari technológiákat a liturgikus öltözékek hagyomány ihlette szabályrendszerével integrálja.
Claudia szakmai gyakorlatát doktori kutatóként a világ egyik legkiemelkedőbb liturgikus ruhaműhelyében, a LAVS-nál töltötte, Filippo Sorcinelli tervező és kivitelező stúdiójában. Sorcinelli a Vatikán számára tervez liturgikus öltözékeket, és a nemzetközi szakmai közegben „a pápa szabójaként” ismert.
